About
I am assistant professor of English at the University of Colorado, Boulder where I teach classes on American literature, media studies, literary theory, and elves. My writing has appeared in or will appear in Configurations, Science Fiction Studies, SFRA Review, Science Fiction Film and Television, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Amodern, The Journal for the Fantastic in the Arts, Extrapolation, and Music, Sound, and the Moving Image. I have published book chapters on Jeff VanderMeer’s Predator novel; Watchmen; music, networks, and terrorism; and imaginary worlds. I edited The Johns Hopkins Guide to Digital Media (with Marie-Laure Ryan and Lori Emerson) and Mere Genre, a special double issue of Extrapolation (with Gerry Canavan). My first book, None of this is normal: The Fiction of Jeff VanderMeer was published by University of Minnesota Press in 2018. My next book project, Here at the end of all things: Fantasy after History, is under contract with the Johns Hopkins University Press. Having taught a course about Tolkien and published an essay on Star Wars, I consider my life mainly complete. I tweet from @BenRobertson.
